I forgot to ask her age, but I guess she was only 16 or so.

When I was at home searching furniture online this morning, I heard something hit on the glass door. So I looked at the entrance and I found a girl's face just above the wall between our house and the neighbor's (currently nobody lives there), she was waiting for me to notice her existence and started beckoning me. I cautiously got closer to her. She said 'help me, I am very hungry.' It was the start of my very unusual day.....

Let me summarize what happened, she recently came to Singapore from Indonesia as a maid but the family she was working didn't treat her well at all, tried to make a full use of her. So she ran from them and came all the way from Choa Chu Kang to Queenstown on a bicycle, and managed to find a house that was empty. After 2 days of no food, she found me next door.

After passing her a bowl of rice and some fruits, and some conversation through a friend over the phone who can speak Indonesian, I decided to bring her to Indonesian Embassy. I explained the situation to an officer and surprisingly, the officer told me that there were already 168 Indonesian maids who ran from the family working for and came to the Embassy to ask for help. 168 maids under Indonesian embassy's care because they refuse to work as maids! I was speechless for a moment...
